I just finished reading Jonathan Merritt’s “Green like God” which details God’s desire for his children to maintain, protect and care for his creation, it’s called creation care. God has created an environment in which he speaks to us on a daily basis and he asks us to take care of his creation. Merritt backs up all of his views with scripture and leads me to wonder why Christians haven’t already been concerned with this. If you were to find a temple that Jesus visited would we not cherish it? Then why not this world that he not only visited but created. Scriptures details his love for his creation. Yes, Humans come first but that doesn’t give us the right to abuse and neglect his other creations. Merritt also teaches us to view the world from the JOY perspective. Jesus, then others and then very last ourselves. We should maintain this world because Jesus requires it and others need it. Some of Merritt’s ideas that weren’t based on scripture could be detailed more in-depth but other than that a great first book from a promising young Christian writer.
Book Notes: Power of 2

Humans are made for collaborating.
Humans are designed for dialogue not monologue.
Isolation is bad for you.
Great partnerships don’t just happen.
Eight elements of a powerful partnership:
Complementary Strengths: One of the most powerful reasons for teaming up is working with someone who is strong where you are weak, and vice versa.
A Common Mission: When partners want the same thing badly enough, they will make the personal sacrifices necessary to see it through.
Fairness: You must continuously consider how much of the work your counterpart is shouldering and what she is getting for the effort.
Trust: You need to rely on your counterpart to look out for your interests.
Acceptance: You both accept the idiosyncrasies of the other.
Forgiveness: It takes a rare level of maturity and self-awareness to let the trespass pass.
Communicating: You are not a mind reader. Assuming without verifying is dangerous.
Unselfishness: When the natural concern for your own welfare transforms into gratification in seeing your comrade succeed.
Authors: Rodd Wagner and Gale Muller
My comments: I really enjoyed this book. I am currently engaged in several partnerships that require the content this book delivered. The eight elements are dead-on. I would encourage every person in a partnership or are pursuing a partnership to read this book. You will find this content to be immediately applicable to your situation and partnerships. Most of all, I am asking myself how do I measure up with the eight elements.
Another pure flix entertainment movie that will entertain and teach and this time they cover the story of ruth, a biblical cinderalla story. It’s a love story that survives through adversity. A love story that redeems the inheritance through the child obed, who will become the grandfather of King David. Christian movies direct calls it a “Epic story of love and devotion”. It stars Carmen, Sherry Morris and Eleese Lester. It’s right on par with most Christian movies but it is definitely worth your time to watch and learn the great story of Ruth. Also, It is good for churches, youth groups and sunday school classes. Be sure to pick it up at your local Christian book store or online at www.pureflix.com/ruth.
Another movie from the crew at Pure Flix entertainment is “A Greater Yes”. It’s the story of Amy Newhouse. Amy is a popular student at Pampa High School who has everything going for her, athletic success, popularity and even founding the school’s only Drugs, Alcohol and Violence-free club. She has everything going for her until she founds out that she has cancer.
Her school rallies behind her offering much needed support and encouragement and then the cancer miraculously disappers only to come back stronger and harder and when the communities enthusiasm dewindles she is left feeling alone. She eventually losing the battle with cancer. However, God had a bigger picture in mind and from this tragedy comes tremendous growth to her club that she founded, proving to all the doubters that God sometimes has greater YES in mind. “It will leave you smiling at times and crying at times” says The Dove Foundation and Chrisitian Move Direct says “It is soul inspiring and Faith Challenging”. Go check it out at www.pureflix.com/greateryes
Sarah’s choice stars CCM star Rebecca St. James and chronicles Sarah’s choice to either continue her fast paced executive life that is headed straight for the corner office and aborting her unplanned pregnancy or do the morally right and Christian thing and keep the baby. In the midst of her deliberation a stranger comes to visit and tells Sarah about three visions that will come and give her insight into her decision. Christian movies direct gives this movie two thumbs up! Tom Saab says this is the #1 pro life movie in America. Though, this is no classic or award winner it is definitely worth a watch and showing to your friends, family and church group. Check it out at www.pureflix.com/sarah.
FFH is back with a new sound and fresh approach. Wide Open Spaces is the new album from Jeromy Deibler and his wife Jennifer. This is their first album since their sabbatical in 2006 and they return with a story to tell and more down to earth sound. This album was written after their trip to Africa and Jeromy’s diagnosis with Multipe Sclerosis. Songs like “Undone” deal with surrendering to God when life seems impossible. “What if Your Best” is my favorite song on the record as well as “Hold on to Me”. Be sure to check them out on tour with Newfire. Their are sure to impress as they travel the country looking to reconnect with a audience that has been patiently waiting and anticipating. This album has to be my favorite from this group and will inspire each of us.
Coming soon:
Reviews from FFH and three dvds!
Heart’s of saints debut album is one of those things were you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. The album cover and name leads me to believe they would be a pop or even a boy band type group. Not! This album features nice rock music and is very impressive musically with some nice guitar solos. Track ten is definitely my favorite. Keep it up guys! This album rocks and you have a bright future.
I absolutely loved this book. Any books that combines aspect of Christianity and the history of America is good to me. This book takes you on a guided tour of all the national monuments and government buildings in Washington D.C. It explains their history and the role that God plays in each one. From the World War two memorial to the Jefferson Memorial this one tells the history of them all. I do wish this book was more in depth. It is basically just a gift type book and I also wish it was more focused on the Christian history as it mentions a famous mormon leader. This book is good for history buff as it details a lot of history of our nation. The photography was done by Newt Gingrich’s wife Calista and helps illustrate what you are reading about. It is also very interesting to read that the foundinf fathers, even Thomas Jefferson himself who first mentioned seperation of Church and State organized religious services and lead in prayers at government functions. Jefferson who wrote about the seperation of Church and State to the Danbury baptists lead and allowed church functions at the capital. His view of the seperation was to not get rid of God in goverment functions but not to enforce a national religion or push it down anyones throat.
